Frequently Asked Questions

Is SharePoint Embedded the same as a normal SharePoint site?

No. It's API-only - there's no default SharePoint user interface. Content is only reachable through Microsoft Graph and whatever interface your application provides.

When does SharePoint Embedded make sense versus a standard document library?

When you're building a custom application that needs document management as a feature, not a destination - and you need per-customer or per-case isolation that a shared SharePoint site can't cleanly provide.

Do we need an existing SharePoint deployment to use this?

No. SharePoint Embedded provisions its own storage partition inside a Microsoft 365 tenant. It doesn't require an existing SharePoint site collection, and it doesn't disrupt one if you have it.

What does a typical engagement include?
